- ADVOCATE for government issues pertaining to the poor and oppressed.
- EDUCATE concerned women on global issues through monthly partnership meetings, cross-cultural studies, national leadership meetings and special community awareness events.
WOMEN OF VISION ORANGE COUNTY Partnership Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, October through May. These meetings give us an opportunity to learn more about our humanitarian projects, their scope and their needs. Often accompanied by video presentations, these meetings feature speakers who share their personal stories and struggles with poverty-driven issues.
Yearly, we offer the WOMEN OF VISION Cross-Cultural Study, "The Heart of the Matter: Touching the Lives of Women in Poverty." This is a journey of awareness, focusing on WOMEN OF VISION and its mission projects.
- PARTNER with women around the world to create mutual life-changing opportunities.
- PRAY specifically for the women and families in our WORLD VISION projects. We meet weekly for prayer on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.
- SUPPORT WOMEN OF VISION ORANGE COUNTY projects financially through personal donations and fund-raising opportunities.
Every December, through our Bells of Christmas program, we provide an opportunity to honor someone special by making a donation to WORLD VISION/WOMEN OF VISION in his or her name. A lovely Christmas card is sent to each honoree, expressing the way he or she has blessed that person's life. This act of kindness will multiply two-fold by bringing joy to the recipient and hope to needy families in our WORLD VISION projects.
In the spring of the year, we hold our annual "Faces of Courage Event". In an effort to raise awareness, we tackle the tough issues that effect women in the developing world, as well as in our own community. Past key-note speakers have included Waris Dirie, United Nations Special Ambassador for the Elimination of FGM; Jane Olson, Chairmen of the Board for Landmine Survivors Network and national board member of Human Rights Watch; Baroness Caroline Cox of Queensbury, international human rights advocate and member of the House of Lords; and Maria Shriver, First Lady of California.
