WOMEN of VISION ORANGE COUNTY's ANNUAL "FACES OF COURAGE" Luncheon and Auction
was held Friday, May 2, 2008 at the BALBOA BAY CLUB Newport Beach, CA
Close to 600 Women of Vision and their guests attended this very successful annual event, which featured prominent actor/ producter/ advocate Patricia Heaton as guest speaker. In addition, a silent auction featuring unique items was held under white tents beside the bay. Topping off the day was the opportunity to sponsor one of the World Vision children whose pictures were featured at each place setting. Last year, close to 100 children were chosen to be sponsored by the women who attended!

 PATRICIA HEATON
Our featured speaker was actor/ producer/ advocate Patricia Heaton. She is best kown for her role as Debra Barone on the award-winning series Everybody Loves Raymond. She won two Emmy Awards for her role on Raymond and was nominated seven times. In addition to her Emmy honors, Ms Heaton is the recipient of the Best Comedy Actress Award from the Viewers for Quality Television, a SAG award, and three SAG nominations in the Best Actress category for her role on Raymond.
Currently, Ms Heaton is starring in 20th Century Fox's newest television comedy, Back to You, with Kelsey Grammer. Along with her numerous television, stage and movie roles, she is also a best selling author, whose book, Motherhood and Hollywood--How to Get a Job Like Mine, was on the New York Times Best Sellers List.
With her husband David Hunt, Ms Heaton founded a production company, FourBoys Films, most notably producing the critically acclaimed film, Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce's 20 year struggle to end slavery in the British Empire.
As one whose conviction is matched by her actions, Patricia Heaton is currently on the board of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. Additionally, since 1998 she has served as Honorary Chair of Feminists for Life of America, a nonsectarian, nonpartisan, nonprofit pro-life organization that seeks real solutions to the challenges women face. She states, with characteristic passion, "Women who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy also deserve unplanned joy."
Ms Heaton is also a strong supporter of Cure Autism Now, the Catholic Big Sisters program and Heifer International, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to help end world hunger and poverty through self-reliance and sustainability.
Patricia Heaton is a committed wife of 17 years to David Hunt and devoted mother of four sons: Sam, John, Joseph, and Daniel.
