U.S. State Department Issues Annual Trafficking in Persons Report: Obama Administration Ignoring Critical Provisions
The U.S. State Department issued its annual
Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report today, and World Vision is disappointed the Obama administration continues to ignore critical provisions of the report.
In a joint letter to Secretary Clinton earlier this year, World Vision and other organizations expressed concern about the risks of improperly implementing an automatic downgrade provision that would demote countries which have not made progress in combating human trafficking, but those concerns were ignored. Learn more about why
World Vision and other humanitarian organizations are dissappointed.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted unanimously to approve the Child Protection Compact Act and send it to the full Senate for a vote as soon as possible!
This huge step forward was only possible through your calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings. We'll say it again: this would not have been possible without you. Thank you for raising your voices in support of this legislation and elevating this crucial issue to our elected leaders.

It's important to take second and direct our thanks to the main sponsors of the bill (Senator Barbara Boxer and Senator Sam Brownback) and their staffs who took the lead in shepherding this bill through a very difficult process. We also want to thank every Senate cosponsor of the bill. These Senators put aside their differences to come together speak out and act against child slavery. And of course, we want to thank the Foreign Relations Committee staff who did so much leg work to get us to this point.

Women of Vision-OC is also grateful that we share a collaboration with knowledgeable and committed IJM and World Vision colleagues who have kept us connected to this critical legislation, providing resources, encouraging and empowering us along the way. The success of our recent WOV-OC Advocacy Team meeting on September 14 with Chris Carrillo, Field Representative for Sen. Feinstein, was due in no small part to the support we have received from IJM and WV. Since then, Mr. Carrillo has confirmed that he is positioned to urge Sen. Feinstein to vote in support of the CPCA S.3184.
